On May 29, 2026, Shiyue Network’s Xingchen Studio released a brand-new gameplay trailer for Gazing Moon (望月), showcasing open-world city traversal across the fictional Tianyue City (天月城). The trailer marks a major public milestone for the game, which has undergone a full-scale overhaul since October 2025.
What the Trailer Shows
The new footage highlights the game’s traversal mechanics, featuring players riding motorcycles, hovering skateboards, and other unique vehicles through Tianyue City’s streets and elevated highways. The city environment — inspired by Guangzhou — is rendered with detailed urban architecture, neon lighting, and a day-night cycle.
Moon Spirits (月灵) can be seen accompanying players throughout the city, reinforcing the game’s core identity as a creature-capture open-world RPG.

The 17-Month Overhaul
Following the first PC technical test (Shuoyue Test / 朔月测试) in January 2025, the development team acknowledged significant issues with art quality, world-building, and overall polish. In October 2025, Shiyue Network committed to a comprehensive rebuild, expanding the team to over 600 members.
The May 2026 trailer represents the first major public showcase of the rebuilt game, and the team’s confidence in releasing a 90% completion figure signals that a public beta is approaching.
Pre-Registration Milestone
Gazing Moon has now surpassed 5.54 million total pre-registrations across all platforms, making it one of the most anticipated upcoming mobile RPGs in China. The TapTap figure alone stands at over 2.37 million, reflecting strong community interest ahead of launch.
What’s Next
The next major milestone is the Guangzhou offline playtest (June 19–21, 2026), where selected players will get hands-on time with the rebuilt game. Registration for the playtest closed on June 11, 2026.
A public beta date has not yet been officially announced, but the 90% completion figure and the upcoming playtest suggest a launch window in the second half of 2026.
