Gazing Moon Moon Spirit System Guide — Capture, Bond & Evolution

Moon Spirits (月灵) are the heart of Gazing Moon’s gameplay. Unlike traditional gacha games where characters are obtained through pulls, Moon Spirits in Gazing Moon are captured in the wild — similar to classic creature-capture RPGs. Only playable characters require gacha pulls.

What Are Moon Spirits?

Moon Spirits are supernatural creatures that coexist with humans in Tianyue City (天月城). In their natural state, they hold jobs and live alongside the city’s human population. However, “Chaotic Moon Spirits” (混沌月灵) have lost their balance and must be purified and captured by the player, who takes on the role of a Yinxian (隐弦士) — a specialist with the ability to sense and interact with Moon Spirits.

Moon Spirits in Gazing Moon are organized around a traditional Chinese elemental system (八卦 / Eight Trigrams):

Pili Corgi (霹靂柯基)

• Attribute: Electric
• Appearance: Orange-and-white Corgi with blue circular glasses and a data-cable tail
• City Role: Technology / information sector
• Combat Role: Electric damage dealer

Yuelang Otter (跃浪獭)

• Attribute: Water (坎水)
• Appearance: Blue-white otter with a plant growing from its head
• City Role: Water management / fishing industry
• Combat Role: Water-type attacker

Jiancheng Cat (建程猫)

• Attribute: Mountain (艮山)
• Appearance: Orange-brown large cat with a crane-hook-shaped tail
• City Role: Construction work, package delivery
• Combat Role: Physical attacker / tank

Huiguang Sheep (辉光羊)

• Appearance: Cyan-green spiral creature
• City Role: Weather forecasting
• Combat Role: Wind-type attacker

Companion Moon Spirits (Non-Combat)

These Moon Spirits are “companion-type” (伴随类) and focus on city life and daily activities rather than combat:

Fengyu Bear (风翎熊)

• Attribute: Wind (巽风)
• City Role: Sports training partner
• Note: Cannot be used in combat

Fengtuan Mouse (风团鼠)

• Attribute: Wind (巽风)
• City Role: Acts as a “self-propelled fan”
• Note: Cannot be used in combat

Capture System

Moon Spirits are not obtained through gacha pulls. Instead, they roam Tianyue City and must be found and captured:

1. Locate a Chaotic Moon Spirit in the open world
2. Weaken it through combat
3. Purify and capture it using your Yinxian abilities
4. Add it to your team as a battle companion or city companion

Capture rates vary by Moon Spirit rarity and can be improved through specific items and Bond level.

Bond System (月灵羁绊)

Building a Bond with your Moon Spirits unlocks new abilities and strengthens your partnership. Bond level increases through:

Bond level progresses through stages, with each new stage unlocking additional abilities or story content.

Moon Chain System (月链系统)

The Moon Chain is one of Gazing Moon’s most unique mechanics. Moon Spirits can transform into different components (元件) that serve different functions:

• Some Moon Spirits become offensive components
• Others become defensive or utility components
• The combination of components in your Moon Chain determines your combat style

This system encourages players to collect a variety of Moon Spirits rather than focusing solely on the strongest individual units.

Evolution

Moon Spirits can evolve through a modular fusion system:

1. Combine a Moon Spirit with a Core Vehicle (核载具)
2. The fusion unlocks a new evolved form with enhanced stats and abilities
3. Evolution is not permanent — components can be reconfigured

The Huiguang Sheep evolution line (辉光羊 → 燧光羊 → 流光羊 → 璃光羊) is the best-documented example of a multi-stage evolution chain.

Tips for New Players

• Prioritize capturing a variety of attribute types early — you’ll need elemental coverage for later content
• Companion Moon Spirits (non-combat types) still contribute to city life mechanics and may unlock unique quests
• Bond level matters for long-term power progression — don’t neglect daily interactions with your Moon Spirits
• The Moon Chain system rewards experimentation — try different component combinations to find your preferred playstyle
