Gazing Moon City Life Guide — Shops, Sports & Urban Exploration

A complete guide to Gazing Moon's city life mechanics: running shops, playing sports with Moon Spirits, multiplayer activities, and exploring Tianyue City.

Gazing Moon (望月) is more than a combat-focused RPG. A significant portion of the game takes place in Tianyue City (天月城) — a living urban environment where Moon Spirits hold jobs, players run businesses, and daily city life unfolds alongside the main story.

Tianyue City Overview

Tianyue City is modeled after Guangzhou, incorporating recognizable urban elements — elevated highways, commercial districts, riverside areas, and a distinctive skyline. The city operates on a day-night cycle with dynamic weather, which affects both Moon Spirit behavior and available activities.

The city is divided into districts, each with its own character and population of Moon Spirits. Exploring these areas is central to the Gazing Moon experience.

Moon Spirit Coexistence

One of the most distinctive aspects of Gazing Moon’s world design is that Moon Spirits are not just battle companions — they are integrated into the city’s economy and daily life:

Moon SpiritCity Job
Jiancheng Cat (建程猫)Construction worker, package delivery
Huiguang Sheep (辉光羊)Shop sign illumination, street lighting
Zhuifeng Salamander (追风螈)Weather forecasting
Fengyu Bear (风翎熊)Sports training partner
Fengtuan Mouse (风团鼠)Portable fan / ventilation

Interacting with these Moon Spirits in their city roles can trigger unique dialogue, side quests, and Bond experience gains.

Shop Management

Players can operate their own shops within Tianyue City. The shop system allows you to:

  • Set up a business in a designated city district
  • Assign Moon Spirit companions to assist with shop operations
  • Attract customers and generate in-game resources
  • Upgrade your shop over time

Moon Spirits with relevant city roles (such as Jiancheng Cat for logistics or Huiguang Sheep for signage) may provide bonuses when assigned to your shop.

Sports and Recreation

Gazing Moon includes a variety of sports mini-games that can be played with Moon Spirit companions:

  • Badminton — Play alongside Fengyu Bear, who serves as a training partner
  • Tennis — Available in designated sports areas of Tianyue City
  • Other recreational activities — The full list will be confirmed at launch

These activities contribute to Moon Spirit Bond levels and provide a relaxing break from combat content.

Multiplayer

Gazing Moon supports multiplayer co-op, allowing players to:

  • Team up for dungeons — Form parties to tackle high-difficulty combat content
  • Host city gatherings — Invite other players to your area of the city for social events
  • Cooperative exploration — Explore Tianyue City together

The multiplayer system is designed to complement rather than require group play — solo players can access all core content.

Vehicles and Traversal

Getting around Tianyue City is a core part of the experience. Confirmed vehicle types include:

VehicleStyle
MotorcycleStreet-level fast travel
Hover skateboardElevated traversal
Additional vehiclesTo be confirmed at launch

Vehicles can be customized, and the traversal system is designed to make navigating the city feel rewarding rather than purely functional.

Day-Night Cycle and Weather

Tianyue City features a dynamic environment:

  • Day-Night Cycle — Different Moon Spirits appear at different times of day
  • Weather System — Rain, clear skies, and other conditions affect the city’s atmosphere and Moon Spirit behavior
  • Lighting — The city’s neon lights and Huiguang Sheep illumination create a distinctive nighttime aesthetic

Tips for City Exploration

  • Talk to Moon Spirits in their city roles — they often provide hints about nearby Chaotic Moon Spirits or hidden areas
  • Check the weather before planning capture sessions — some Moon Spirits only appear in specific conditions
  • Invest in your shop early — passive resource generation from shop management compounds over time
  • Use vehicles for efficient traversal between districts rather than running everywhere on foot
