Gazing Moon Beginner Guide — Everything You Need to Know

New to Gazing Moon? This complete beginner guide covers Moon Spirit capture, Tianyue City exploration, vehicle gameplay, and core game systems.

Welcome to Gazing Moon (望月), an open-world creature-capture RPG set in the fictional city of Tianyue (天月城), inspired by Guangzhou. This guide covers everything you need to know before the game launches.

What is Gazing Moon?

Gazing Moon is developed by Shiyue Network’s Xingchen Studio and combines elements from several popular genres:

  • Open World Exploration — A vast city environment inspired by Guangzhou
  • Creature Capture — Encounter and capture Moon Spirits (月灵) throughout the city
  • Vehicle Gameplay — Drive cars and motorcycles through the city
  • Action RPG Combat — Real-time combat with your Moon Spirits

Core Systems

Moon Spirits (月灵)

Moon Spirits are the creatures you capture and battle with in Gazing Moon. Each Moon Spirit has:

  • An elemental type (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Lightning, Ice, Light, or Dark)
  • A rarity tier (3-star, 4-star, or 5-star)
  • A role (Attacker, Defender, Support, Healer, or Controller)
  • Unique abilities that define their combat style

Tianyue City

The game world is set in Tianyue City (天月城), a sprawling urban environment featuring:

  • Dense city districts to explore
  • Hidden Moon Spirit habitats
  • Elevated highways for vehicle gameplay
  • Day/night cycle affecting Moon Spirit appearances

Capture Mechanics

To capture a Moon Spirit:

  1. Weaken it in combat (but don’t defeat it)
  2. Use a capture item when its HP is low
  3. Higher rarity Moon Spirits require better capture items
  4. Certain Moon Spirits only appear at night or during special weather
